HORSE RIDING
Our horse-farm has been functioning successfully since 1987 and has rich horse-back riding traditions.
Our offer includes:
– all-year-round recreation riding for everybody, irrespective of the age,
– horse riding from the scratch – in spring and autumn,
– training for advanced rides who want to improve their riding skills in dressage
and jumping,
– open-field rides,
– horseback riding vacation in summer and winter,
– professional training in obstacle jumping,
– horseback rides to Ojcowski National Park.All events take place in the assistance of experienced trainers.
At present we have 25 horses, including 8 horses for recreation and 2 ponies.
All our recreation horses are well-trained, obedient and nice to ride on.
Horse rides take place both on riding area and on two 3 -ha meadows.
My five day trip to Stary Mlyn was exceptional
Why I recommend it:
– the horses were great, they have 25 and the "Old Mill" still is operational,
– Irina, the trainer, was a superb instructor and now I can gallop,
– Irina's son is a horse champion, so the family-owned stable was a proper sport environment, but not too aristocratic,
– the rooms (6) were clean, seasonably comfortable & I had my own WC,
– the cook, Basia, prepared delicious, traditional Polish meals,
– Daily, I asked Irina many questions about how to ride better and about horse care. She was good humored, well-informed, interested in teaching me and communicates well in both Polish (my friend Bogdan commented on this) and English,
– Mila atmosphera: with one goat, two rabbits, cats, dogs and you can watch the horses graze and run in the fields,
– Irina let me groom, saddle and bridle the horse that I rode before each lesson for the full experience,
– I paid for two hour-long lessons a day, but some lessons were 90 to 120 minutes and I got extra attention, even in group lessons,
– Stary Mlyn runs a horse equipment store near Multi Kino, where I bought custom made riding boots at the same price as a standard pair – Krakow,

– Michalowice is a 15 to 20 minute minibus ride from Krakow Centrum, but the horse farm is not really in the village. It is secluded on a country road, making it "a real get-a-way".Rachel Linn
